Movement Disorders produce a wide range of symptoms and almost all are chronic, thus generating a huge burden of disease. The growing number of new therapeutic options represents a special interdisciplinary challenge.
In order to promote this interdisciplinary approach, IAB – Interdisciplinary Working Group for Movement Disorders 2006 was founded in Hamburg.
IAB offers patients and therapists the unique opportunity to network and to deepen the knowledge without bias. This leads to a sustained improvement in therapy and quality of life.
IAB is the only structured platform that offers a collaboration of all takeholders, whether patients and relatives or therapists.
Patient and their relatives represent an essential and central component of an interdisciplinary treatment concept. Only when they are informed about the type of the disease, the course and the treatment options an optimal treatment result can be achieved.
Patients, relatives and other interested medical non-professionals can in small groups in a workshop mode learn more about movement disorders and their treatment and coping strategies for these mostly chronic diseases.
We offer additionally as the only german institution: IAB specialist in Movement Disorders (SMD-IAB) based on a certificated and patented curriculum.
