Second International Congress on Treatment of Dystonia
Preliminary Scientific Program
Poster Presentations
Foreword from the Organisers
Dystonias are amongst the most common movement disorders. Botulinum toxin and deep brain stimulation have revolutionized their therapy. However, there are still considerable unmet therapeutic needs.
This was the reason to organise the First International Congress on Treatment of Dystonia in the year 2010. After receiving an extremely warm welcome from the medical and scientific community we were all enthusiastic to organise the second meeting of this kind from May 8th to 11th 2013. For the first time we are able to reach out to rehabilitation: The First International Conference on Rehabilitation of Dystonia was incorporated as a pre-meeting satellite event.
The intense three and a half day program consisting of state of the art lectures, special lectures, workshops, industry symposia, a busy industry exhibition and the keynote lecture by Dr Stanley Fahn (DVD available through www.iabnetz.de) as one of the meeting’s highlights, lured this time more than 550 participants from over 45 countries to Hannover.
The following abstracts accompanied the posters presented at the congress. They cover a wide spectrum of interesting topics and give a comprehensive overview about the latest research in dystonia.
Enjoy reading and stay with us to develop this open platform for all who take care of people with dystonia.
