Movement disorders are a complex and rapidly expanding area of neurology. This field includes f.e. Parkinson’s Disease, Dystonia, Tremor, Spasticity after Stroke and Multiple Sclerosis that in most cases can only be met by an interdisciplinary therapeutic team.

IAB is the only structured platform that offers a collaboration of all takeholders, whether patients and relatives or therapists.

Why IAB?

Neurological movement disorders produce a wide range of symptoms and almost all are chronic, thus generating a huge burden of disease. The growing number of new treatment options represents an  interdisciplinary challenge. However, the high complexity of these treatments beside a lack of trained caregivers and therapists who could accompany the outpatient section causes a major problem.

To develop this interdisciplinary therapeutic approach, IAB – Interdisciplinary Working Group on Movement Disorders was founded in Hamburg in 2006.
IAB offers patients and therapists the unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge without advertising and to network. This leads to a sustainable improvement in therapy and quality of life.

IAB Academy

The networking approach for quality and efficiency optimization in the outpatient therapy of movement disorders is still usually underestimated in Germany.

An essential and central component of an interdisciplinary treatment concept is the patient and his relatives. Only if they are informed about the type of disease, the course and the treatment options, an optimal treatment result can be achieved.

IAB Academy wants to make this information accessible to you as a patient or relative in order to improve the framework conditions for an interdisciplinary therapy of movement disorders in the long term.

IAB Akademie is also the only German institution to offer physicians and health professionals who work in the field of movement disorders the possibility of patented and certified further training as a specialist therapist for movement disorders according to the IAB concept (FB-IAB).

Useful information
